Oaks Indian Mission
The Oaks Mission as a Children's Home was established in 1926 and is located approximately 65 miles east of Tulsa, Oklahoma, just 23 miles west of Siloam Springs, Arkansas.
The Oaks Mission is working with children and youth at risk from among nine Native American tribes in eastern Oklahoma. During the school year, Oaks provides residence and food, faith formation, counseling, and educational opportunities for approximately 50 children. Oaks Indian Mission operates solely on donations. Getting Involved
For several years, St. John's and Salem Lutheran Church confirmation students and adults set out to help Oaks Indian Mission with any painting, cleaning, fixing up rooms, carpentry, patching, roofing and siding needs they may have. Those who attend are housed on the Oaks campus in dormitory style housing. Each group who has attended formed friendships with each other as they worked together, studied the Bible together and ate meals together. They also formed relationships with the children and youth living at the school during the summer. The next trip is planned for July, 2015.
